Creating a Community for Christ
In December of 2017, the people of Peace Lutheran Church decided to take a step out in faith. In partnership with the South Carolina Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, they made the decision to end the ministry of Peace Lutheran so something new could take its place. This was the birth of Christ Community Lutheran of North Charleston. Under the leadership of Pastor Sherry Teves, and later Pastor Wayne Young, CCL began to look for ways to engage with the community of North Charleston, SC. One of the most important ways we have done that is by providing supplies for the homeless veterans who live in tent cities in the woods around the Charleston area. This has been a life-changing ministry for the community and one that is very important to who the people of CCL are.
At the beginning of 2020, the people of CCL made another leap of faith, agreeing to a partnership with St. Michael Lutheran Church in Moncks Corner, SC. This partnership, nicknamed Two Rivers Parish, has enabled both communities to call Pastor Joshua Knutson to serve as Pastor and Mission Developer. With the excitement the new partnership agreement brings to the two churches, it is clear that God has special plans for this relationship.
Above all, the people of CCL and St. Michael are committed to creating a community for a Christ, a community where all people are accepted as the loved part of creation that they are. There is a place for you here in God’s church. We can’t wait to meet you.
